A POLITICAL future awaits Maybole’s Kate Fleming (pictured second from right), who was elected member of the Scottish Youth Parliament (MSYP) for Carrick, Cumnock and Doon valley at a County Buildings ceremony on Friday.

The 16-year-old Carrick Academy pupil, from Cargill Road, Maybole, was voted in by South Ayrshire’s young people, aged 12-25, before polling closed on Thursday, and was part of an election that saw the highest turn-out ever with 4,830 votes cast.

“I’m so glad I’ve been given the opportunity to make a difference in my area and I’m excited for what the next two years will bring,” said Kate.
