A 36 year old man from Girvan has been remanded in custody after appearing at Ayr Sheriff Court on Tuesday 20 May.
Paul Spowart made no plea or declaration at court when he was charged with assault and intent to rob.
The charges relate to an incident at Girvan’s Premier Store in Glendoune Street on the evening of Sunday May 18.
At around 5pm that evening a man entered the store and began to act in a threatening and demanding manner towards staff.
The store was put into “lockdown” as police began their enquiries.
He was traced and later charged. It was confirmed he did not make away from the store with any cash.
Mr Spowart was remanded in custody as the case continues for further examination.
He will make another appearance at Ayr Sheriff Court today (Wednesday May 28th).
