Snow forecast once more
WINTER WATCH: Much of Carrick was covered in a blanket of snow on Monday, including the hills around Pinmore.
CARRICK residents are being warned to be on the watch for snow once again - despite escaping alert status for the first time in a week today.
Today (Wednesday) is the first time the Strathclyde region has not been under yellow weather warning for snow since early last week, and already citizens are being warned of another wintry weather front moving in.
While the snow that Carrick woke up to find lying on Monday morning had tailed off overnight, the snow having moved further east and become more patchy, Met Office experts are warning of another bout moving in west on Friday.
A frontal system reaching the UK from the Atlantic during Thursday night and Friday is expected to bring with it another round of rain, sleet and snow - although the timing of this front’s arrival remains uncertain.
Forecasters predict 2-5cm of the white stuff quite widely, with 10cm or more locally and over high ground. They say strong winds will also lead to drifting, particularly over higher level roads in the north, and are warning the public of possible disruption to travel.
While Strathclyde currently has no weather alerts for either snow or ice for today or tomorrow - the latest ice warning having expired this morning - continued caution is advised.
Strathclyde is the only Scottish region to have no current warnings at all, joining Northern Ireland, North West England, the West Midlands, and Wales.
