The Commonwealth Games Queen’s baton relay was welcomed in South Ayrshire last week as it passed through the area on its global trek to Glasgow.
Last Friday was day 7 of the relay in Scotland, which got underway on Saturday 14 June, and thousands of people lined the route through South Ayrshire’s communities.
The route led to a day of family fun Queen’s Baton Relay celebrations at the Low Green in Ayr.
The baton set off from Ballantrae at 8.25am, passing through Girvan, Maybole, Alloway, Mossblown, Tarbolton, Symington, Dundonald, Troon, Prestwick and Ayr, before reaching the Low Green event.
The route gave thousands of people the chance to see the Queen’s Baton Relay on their doorstep – and cheer on the 107 inspirational batonbearers who carried the baton through South Ayrshire.
