The final service of St John’s Scottish Episcopal Church will be held in the Girvan Methodist Church on Sunday May 18 at 6pm.
St John’s members have worshipped in the church for over five years after their building in Piedmont Road became unusable, but in March they agreed it wasn’t viable to continue attempts to grow the congregation and agreed on closure.
The Bishop of Glasgow and Galloway, Rt Revd George Duncan, will lead the service where St John’s members will be joined by the Holy Trinity from Ayr and St Oswald’s in Maybole to thank St John’s for their work since 1847.
Worship leader Paige Paterson said: “This will be quite a moving occasion for us. We would love people who have had any connection at all with St John’s to come and share it with us.”
Music will come from the holy trinity choir with South Ayrshire team rector Andrew Baldock preaching.
