A roaring success.
That’s the verdict from the Girvan Youth Trust on their summer programme of events in the town.
The group which are based at the Z1 Youth Bar in Dalrymple Street have been operating a boating pond, music on the prom most Sundays and kids entertainment programmes on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the school holidays.
Project manager Bill Logan revealed: “Thanks to Awards for All Scotland and Carrick Futures, we have been able to put on a successful music programme this summer on Sundays. The weather has unfortunately beaten us the last two weeks but people have really enjoyed the 50s/60s sounds and have told us it has made the seafront come alive.”
The trust have also been operating a boating pond which has done superbly. Bill said: “Over the 28 days the boating pond was open, we have had 3886 people on the boats and this shows that there is a market for the traditional things at the front.
“The kids entertainment programmes have went down really well too with parents and kids which is a bonus.”
