Summer rain warnings strike again
YELLOW weather warnings are in place once again for five areas of Scotland as up to 15mm of rain is predicted to fall in an hour in some locations.
The Met Office have urged Strathclyde residents to be aware of the increased risk of localised flooding and travel disruptions as the area joins Central, Tayside and Fife; Grampian; Highlands and Islands; and Highlands and Eilean Siar at yellow warning status for rain.
This is due to heavy showers during the morning becoming frequent during the afternoon and early evening, though no flood alert are currently issued for Scotland. The Met Office says thunder and perhaps hail are also likely.
The conditions are the result of a showery, southwesterly airstream over most northern and western areas of the British Isles today.
The yellow warning is expected to be lifted at 10pm tonight. There are currently no warnings for the rest of the week.
