Turn over an entrepreneurial new leaf

If your resolution for the New Year is to turn your great business idea into a 2014 success story, Business Gateway Ayrshire is able to help.

Traditionally, figures show that the first few months of the year prove to be the most popular time for people to set up their new business, as more people consider making changes to their lifestyle, including starting up on their own at the beginning of a new year.

Therefore, budding entrepreneurs throughout Ayrshire are being given an extra boost, with the launch of a series of free workshops designed to add benefit to businesses at no extra cost.

Covering a range of topics, the programme of events aims to arm potential, new and existing business owners, with the skills and knowledge to develop their venture and make it a success.

Running through January, the new year workshops includes:

Business Start-Up Awareness – Tuesday, 14th January from 10 a.m to 12.30 p.m at East Ayrshire Council office, Mill Bank, 14 Lugar Street, Cumnock – This workshop will provide you with the opportunity to network with other business owners and will also highlight useful sources of information, advice and guidance.

Business Start-Up Marketing – Tuesday, 21st January from 10 a.m to 12.30 p.m at East Ayrshire Council Headquarters, London Road, Kilmarnock -This workshop will look at the role of marketing in your business, identifying your target customers, identifying the strengths and weaknesses of your competitors and market research.

Business Start-Up Finance – Monday, 27th January from 2 p.m to 4.30 p.m at Greenwood Conference Centre, Greenwood Gate, Dreghorn – This seminar will look at how to manage a profit and loss account, how to produce a cashflow statement, the different sources of finance and the different legal structures of a business.
