Weather warning for Carrick

editorial image

HEAVY rain has attracted Carrick’s latest weather warning as up to 40mm of rain is forecast over the course of the day.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain over Strathclyde as a belt of heavy precipitation makes its way northeast from Northern Ireland.

Bands of heavy, blustery showers are expected to hit for later this afternoon and evening, and the Met Office is warning residents in affected areas to be on the look-out for localised flooding on already saturated ground.

The strong winds will also remove some leaves and small branches from leaves, and could cause drainage problems.

The Strathclyde area is one of only two regions in Scotland with a weather warning currently in operation, with neighbouring Southwest Scotland, Lothian and Borders also affected.
