Full credit must go to the parent council and pupils at Girvan Primary this week for their fantastic fundraising efforts which have enabled them to install fantastic new equipment in the school playground.
Over £8,000 was raised by the parent council and pupils through a series of fundraising events, including a sponsored jog which raised over £2,500 alone.
These sort of projects take time and a tremendous amount of effort, but now the children are set to reap the rewards after their fundraising efforts were topped off by a £9,900 grant from Awards for All Scotland.
The new equipment will provide a rigorous workout for the youngsters and keep them entertained in classes and at break and lunchtimes. It is certain to put a smile on their faces and for that reason alone, it should be welcomed.
Huge congratulations to Carrick RFC for gaining promotion on Saturday which was sealed with a superb 71-10 win over Loch Lomond.
The Maybole men have been in tremendous form all season, scoring over 1100 points and losing only three games.
They held their nerve when it mattered most, going on a tremendous winning streak towards the end of the campaign and got their rewards.
Here’s hoping that the Carrick men can push on in West Regional One next season and make this a truly golden period for rugby in the area.
In last weeks paper on the back page it stated that twins Robby and Ross McCrorie were different ages! Of course this was a daft error and we happily correct this. And we also send our best wishes to Robby who is currently over in Malta with the Scotland under 17 side who are going to play their first match in the European Championships on Friday against Portugal.
