Woman wasted police time

A Stranraer woman who wasted police time by telling them her bag had been stolen has appeared for sentencing at Stranraer Sheriff Court.

Lorraine Kelly, 46, of 16 John Simpson Drive, lied to officers at Stranraer Police Station on February 29 when informing them her bag had been stolen from the Tesco store in the town.

Her solicitor Paul Feeney said this had been a “wake-up call” for the accused.

Sheriff Kenneth Robb put her on a supervised community payback order for 12 months, including 140 hours of unpaid work.
