Following a special meeting in May where Lodge St Meddans (Drummore) No 1335 carried out a First degree and the monies raised were presented to the charities at the BBQ. Both cheques for the sum of £350 were presented by the Right Worshipful Master of the lodges involved, Bro Robert McMaster of Girvan Lodge and Bro Nigel Bailey of Drummore Lodge.
The first cheque was presented to Combat Stress.
The second cheque was presented to Robert Jess of the Community Action Network, Girvan (CAN). The charity provides a bespoke patient transport service for people residing in Girvan and the South Carrick District.
The service is primarily delivered to elderly or infirm residents however in exceptional circumstances children and parents (e.g. cancer, serious on-going health issues) have accessed. Volunteer Drivers Receive petrol expenses and therefore a suitable donation is required.
