Teams from the Galloway Sector of HM Coastguard gathered for long service presentations to team members from Girvan and Ayr.

James Baillie (Girvan) and Drew Hall (Ayr) were presented with 30-years service awards and Calum McCutcheon (Girvan) was presented with a 20-year service award.

The awards were presented by the Galloway sector manager Richard Morgans.

The award, first approved by the King George V in 1911, is a recognition of service to Her Majesty’s Coastguard and the local community.

Galloway Sector, soon to be redefined consists of teams from Drummore, Portpatrick, Stranraer, Ballantrae, Girvan, Ayr, Ardrossan and Arran.

All the team members are volunteers on call 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year for all maritime and coastal emergencies. Teams are highly trained in cliff and water rescue, and search techniques.
