Man hurt in freak lorry accident

A 43-year-old Girvan man is in hospital after a freak accident in which he was run over by his own lorry.

But an even more serious incident was averted when the runaway vehicle struck a pole which stopped it careering onto a busy main road.

The accident happened just after 7.30 on Monday morning in the car park of Girvan railway station as the driver of a lorry was attempting to “jump start” another belonging to the same firm which had broken down.
