Armistice Day, held on 11 November every year, commemorates the signing of the armistice between the Allies and Germany at 11am on 11 November 1918 - the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. Although hostilities continued in some areas, the armistice essentially brought an end to World War I.

On Monday November 11 at the Greenside at 11am the service was attended by the Maybole Branch of the Royal British Legion Scotland and several other local organisations and all schools. The service was led by Rev Brian Hendrie, Scott Barrie played the lament and Alex Kelly recited Binyon’s Lines and the Kohima Epitaph.
