Local SNP MSP Adam Ingram has welcomed £1,168,558 in funding for South Ayrshire Council from the Scottish Government as part of a £60 million package for the Home Energy Efficiency Programme.
The funding allows councils to help fuel poor and vulnerable households with energy efficiency improvements such as solid wall, cavity and loft insulation.
£48 million of the fund has already been distributed to all local councils across Scotland and councils will have the opportunity to bid for the remaining £12 million.
This funding is part of the Scottish Governments drive to tackle fuel poverty.
Commenting on the announcement Mr Ingram said: “I very much welcome this funding which will ensure those households across South Ayrshire which are not energy efficient can access funds to stay warm and cut their fuel bills.
“With winter taking hold I would encourage anyone to seek free and impartial advice on how they can reduce their energy costs. Help on how to save money or receive support for home insulation, boilers or central heating is available by contacting Home Energy Scotland on 08088082282 or visit the website at www.homeenergyscotland.org.”
