The new chemists store in Girvan is to be opened by Mr and Mrs David Muir from Girvan.
Retired David Muir is the former owner of Muir’s the Chemist on Dalrymple Street and has a long history of serving the local community.
Boots has relocated and rebranded its Boots store previously in Dalrymple Street, into premises at Girvan Community Hospital Health Centre. The new 100m² health and beauty store, which has been custom-designed, will provide a comprehensive healthcare range and pharmacy service and an even better shopping experience for customers. The store will be officially opened, with a ribbon cutting ceremony, on 30 August 2011.
The new store has a brand new pharmacy and includes a consultation area – which contains all the necessary facilities for carrying out a range of advisory services and tests. Customers will have access to a wide range of healthcare services such as Minor Ailments, Free Repeat Prescription Collection and Smoking Cessation.
The new beauty department at the Local Boots Pharmacy will see the introduction of a No7 counter for the first time, and will offer a wide selection of lifestyle products including toiletries, healthcare and baby products.
Jacqueline Sloan, Store Manager, Boots at Girvan, says: “Opening this new store is an extremely exciting time for us, as it will provide our customers with a wider range of healthcare products and services.
“The Boots located at Girvan Community Hospital Health Centre will stock a wide range of both beauty and healthcare products allowing us to offer our customers a fantastic shopping experience. With two Boots pharmacies previously at either side of Girvan’s high street, this strategic move widens our services out into the community whilst still offering a pharmacy service on Dalrymple Street. We are very much looking forward to welcoming customers into our new store. ”
David Muir owned Muir’s the Chemist from 1958 until 1992 when he retired after a long and happy career in Girvan’s town centre. David and his wife Dorothy will carry out the official ribbon cutting. David commented: “After months of speculation the relocated community pharmacy has now opened in our community hospital. Both Dorothy and I wish Jacqueline Sloan and her team of staff every success for the future.”
