A group of Ayrshire mums were presented with golden baby boots because they agreed to a flu vaccination when they were pregnant.

The mums and their babies, who were protected by the vaccination, proudly displayed the golden boots as they backed the campaign to encourage other pregnant women to follow suit.

The mums, who meet up at the Yogabellies Ayrshire, join many others across the country who are being pictured with golden boots to highlight how the vaccine can protect against flu.

Over two million eligible people in Scotland will be offered the vaccine this winter as part of the national flu immunisation programme as pregnant women can face complications if they catch flu.

Amanda Muirhead, who gave birth to her baby girl Sienna in August of this year, said: “During my pregnancy I had enough on my mind, and getting flu was not part of the plan.

“I decided early on in my pregnancy that I would much rather get vaccinated than be stressed out worrying about the consequences of flu.”
