92.5% of young people leaving school in South Ayrshire are going on to positive destinations of work, training or study, new figures show – as the number of school leavers in positive destinations across Scotland reaches a record high.

69.5% of school leavers in South Ayrshire in 2014/15 went on to higher or further education, while 19.9% found work. The combined number of young people going on to positive destinations in South Ayrshire is at a record high – and a significant increase from the 88.5% in 2009/10.

The number of young people in positive destinations in South Ayrshire was higher than the national average.

SNP MSP Jeane Freeman said: “While these figures are hugely encouraging, there is more to do. The SNP has put improving attainment at schools at the heart of our plans.”
