Next month the Carrick Opportunities Centre in Girvan will be offering you the chance to gain certificates in two very important areas.
The first of these will see participants undertake a course in order to gain a Scottish Certificate in holding a personal licence.
This takes place on Wednesday 19 February and runs from 9am until 4.30pm. It is advised that anyone who wishes to work in a licenced premises or any venue or site where alcohol is sold upon which they will be selling alcohol to members of the public should undertake this course.
The Licencing (Scotland) Act 2005 requires anyone who sells alcohol must hold a personal licence. If you wish to hold a personal licence then you should apply to your local licencing board where upon you will be asked to prove you hold a licencing qualification.
The cost of the licencing course is £140 which includes teas, coffees, lunch, tuition, handbook, British Institute of Innkeeping Approvals Board (BIIAB) fees and the certificate.

The other course takes place on Monday 24 February and will see candidates undertake a course to gain an elementary certificate in food hygiene from the Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland (REHIS). The course will again take place in the Carrick Opportunities Centre from 9.30am-4.30pm. Food hygiene training is a legal requirement so it is advised that anyone who handles food, is part of a catering team or anyone with an interest in good food practice should undertake the course.
The course costs £60 which includes all catering, tuition, course handbook, examination fees and certificate. Again you may be eligible for an ILA discount for this course but be sure to contact the number or website above before the course date.
