Residents of Girvan’s Boyle Court are warming up for the Olympics by hosting their own replica Olympic flame this week.

The torch has been touring South Ayrshire’s 19 sheltered housing units, and Boyle Court is the last stop ahead of the Olympic Games opening ceremony in London this weekend.

Boyle Court warden Patricia Capaldi said: “We just felt that with the Olympics it would be nice for the residents to take part - to feel like they were involved with it.”

The flame will be kept toasty in the unit’s community hub for a week, after which it will return to Ayr.
