A GIRVAN concert has helped the Ayrshire Hospice raise more than £1000 for their Year of Agriculture appeal.

International Mezzo Soprano Linda Finnie performed a repertoire including classical works by Handel, Dvorak and Schubert as well as popular favourites by John Lennon and Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Linda was joined by the choir from Galston Parish Church who, under the musical direction of Graham Finnie, are widely regarded as one of the finest choirs in the west of Scotland.

Guest organist was Bill Murray who is currently organist and choirmaster at Kelvinside-Hillhead, Glasgow.

Linda also starred in a second concert at Galston Parish Church, also in aid of the Hospice, and she presented Hospice Chairman Dr John Elliott and CEO Mrs Aileen Anderson with a superb cheque for £705.
