From today until Friday roadworks mean the A77 will be closed overnight at the Bankfield Roundabout.
With the road surface coming towards the end of its operational life, the Scotland TranServ team on behalf of Transport Scotland are to resurface the roundabout.
Work will be carried out overnight in order to reduce disruption to the travelling public. Work will take place from Monday 11 May to Friday 15 May 2015 and will take place from 8pm to 6am each night.
Due to the nature of the works and to protect the health and safety of our operatives and travelling public a series of Traffic Management measures will be in place;
The A77 north bound and south bound will be closed between Maybole Road and Holmston Roundabout each night.
The A713 through Bankfield Roundabout will be controlled under 2-way traffic lights during the works.
Northbound A77 traffic will be diverted north bound along Maybole Road – St Leonards Road – Carrick Roadd – A70 eastbound Holmston Road – Rejoin A77 northbound at Holmston Roundabout.
Southbound traffic will follow the reverse of northbound diversion.
Gordon Wilson, Contract Director for Scotland TranServ said: “This essential maintenance scheme is vital to ensuring we prolong the lifespan of the road surface benefiting road users using the A77.”
“In order to minimise disruption to local residents and motorists alike the works will take place overnight when traffic flows are lighter however I would urge motorists to plan their journeys.”
Motorists can keep up to date with real time traffic information by visiting www.trafficscotland.org or following @TrafficScotland on Twitter. Advanced warning signs will also be in place on the approach to inform motorists that roadworks are taking place.
