NHS Ayrshire and Arran said a big thank you to the ladies of Project Linus when they visited the Children’s Ward in Crosshouse Hospital.
Project Linus donates comforting handmade quilts to children in hospital for them to snuggle in to. The quilts are made by women from all over Ayrshire who sew and knit. The majority are members of quilting groups from Ballantrae to Kilbirnie.
The women visited Crosshouse Hospital for tea and mince pies and got to see first hand how their quilts were put to good use in the Children’s Ward and in the Ayrshire Maternity Unit. They were met by Angela Cunningham, Head of Midwifery and Children’s Nursing and Caroline Blake, Senior Neonatal Midwife.
Jean Davies, Senior Paediatric Nurse, commented: “We would like to give our heartfelt thanks to all the women for the hard work, love and care that goes into making the beautiful quilts and baby clothes. Being in hospital can be a frightening and stressful experience for a child, but these quilts can make the environment seem more homely and comforting.”
