WE REALLY need toys. That is the message from the folk behind Z1 Youth Bar’s Christmas toy raffle.

With tickets expected to go on sale as early as next week and only 10 toys donated, Z1 are on a mission to induce the season of goodwill in Carrick.

“This is not a Girvan Youth Trust initiative - I would like to think it is a Girvan town and surrounding communities initiative,” said Z1 manager Bill Logan. It is for the benefit of everyone in the community, and the raffle will be open to everyone.”

With a target of 100 toys to be given away to needy families this festive period, every business in Girvan is being canvassed for donations this year. And Bill welcomes gifts from individuals, groups and businesses outside Girvan too - any NEW toy will be accepted.

“We are also looking for help in promoting the raffle tickets and making sure they are available in all the local communities,” said Bill, “Last year we were just short of 2000 tickets sold, generating £1900 for the street party. And we’re really going for it this year.”
