For the fourth year in a row South Ayrshire pupils have achieved record breaking exam results.
Youngsters from eight secondary schools received their results today by post, e-mail or text.
And for most it was a time for celebration.
Fourth years who achieved five standard grades at general level or better reached 85%, with those gaining credit grades hitting 44% which is an all time high for South Ayrshire pupils.
And an incredible 98% of pupils were awarded a pass in Maths or English at foundation level.
The results were equally as good for those fifth year pupils who sat their higher exams this year with 32% gaining three or more highers with 15%- an all time high getting five or more higher awards.
Councillor Margaret Toner, South Ayrshire Council’s Portfolio Holder for Lifelong Learning, said: “These are stunning and very well-deserved results and my congratulations to the students for all their hard work – I hope they’re very proud of themselves. Whether progressing to college, university or into the world of work, these results will make a real difference to their futures and will hopefully help them achieve their full potential.
“My congratulations also to our teachers and school staff, as well as the pupils’ families. It takes a lot of support and assistance – a real team effort – to prepare our young people for their exams and today’s results are testament to that support and preparation.
