Red squirrel in possible comeback

A group conserving red squirrels in key parts of Ayrshire is to present an update on the project.

Ayrshire Red Squirrel Group’s project officer, Joram Smit, will present an update on the Carrick Red Squirrel Project which is helped by local volunteers and landowners.

He will also share exciting survey results which suggest the red squirrel may be making a comeback in parts of Ayrshire where it had largely disappeared.

The annual meeting, which starts at 7pm on March 26 at the Carrick Centre, Maybole is open to all to attend. The group is now in its 13th year and the meeting provides a great opportunity for local people with an interest in native wildlife to come along, meet like-minded people and hear about some of the great conservation work that is taking place across Ayrshire.

The event is free to attend and tea and coffee will be available. For more information please contact: Fiona Ross by Email at Fiona.ross@south-ayrshire.gov.uk
