A former Girvan favourite is set to make a comeback of sorts- but it needs your help.
Flix owner Forbes Robertson is putting the finishing touches to a new bar in the nightclub on Bridge Street but wants to add some special photos to it.
Owner Forbes is keen to source photos of golfing legends including he says Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson ‘pulling pints’ in the so-called Bunker Bar in the Kings Arms in the late 1970s.
Forbes believes the historic pictures were taken around the time of The Open at Turnberry in 1977 where Watson famously beat Nicklaus in the ‘Duel of the Sun’.
However, searching in the Carrick Gazette archives proved fruitless so now Forbes is asking anyone who has the pictures after perhaps buying them when items were sold off from the Bunker Bar to hand them into the Carrick Gazette.
The new bar is designed to attract even more customers into the nightclub which was re-opened in August after being shut for a number of years.
Forbes is hoping to have the picture of the golfing greats in the bar alongside himself and licencee John Stewart as they bid for what Forbes says would be ‘something a bit different in terms of the Girvan nightlife for the people to enjoy’
Anyone with the pictures should contact the Gazette.
