RNLI needs tech help to boost funds

INDIVIDUALS with IT knowledge, equipment and time are being sought out to lend their expertise to the RNLI.

The Carrick Gazette and RNLI shop sell a popular series of six DVDs entitled A Pictoral History of Old Girvan, and have seen demand from across the UK for copies of the unique programmes.

Narrated by Jim McMeikan and originally produced and edited by Arthur Walker of Girvan drapers J.G.Walker and Son, the monies raised from the sale of the DVDs goes directly to the RNLI.

But stocks have been gradually dwindling with no-one to produce to new copies - despite only a few hours work per quarter being required as master copies and copyright are in place - and the lifeboat charity is seeking an individual or company willing to take over this role on a voluntary basis.

Interested parties are asked to contact Vicky Bone at the Carrick Gazette on 01465 714717, or email vicky.bone@carrickgazette.com, or pop in to the office at 32 Dalrymple Street, Girvan.

Copies of A Pictoral History of Old Girvan are available from the Carrick Gazette office and the RNLI shop at Girvan Harbour - which is open from 2-4pm every weekend until the end of November.
