Rotary learn about work of Shelterbox charity

The Rotary Club of Girvan invited members of AyrRotary Club to come and talk about ‘ Shelter box’.

Shelter Box was started in response to the unimaginable disaster of the 2004 Tsunami.

ShelterBox is a relief charity that provides immediate assistance to people affected by disasters such as earthquakes, volcanic activity, flooding, hurricanes, cyclones, tsunamis, or conflict. They provide shelter, lifesaving equipment, and educational materials to hard-hit communities worldwide. Each ShelterBox typically contains a relief tent for an extended family, blankets, water storage and purification equipment, cooking utensils, a stove, a basic tool kit, a children’s activity pack, and other essential items. Each box costs about £600 and is sent immediately to the right location. It has a number like your house and you can track it online and watch its progress and its usage.

The members of Ayr Rotary pitched and displayed the contents of a whole box in the North Parish Church and the quality and extensive nature of the contents were impressive .If you are a group in Girvan and would like to buy a box or half a box or even ten percent of a box contact Girvan Rotary Club. You could make a distressed family very happy .
