When generous patrons at Girvan’s Roxy couldn’t squeeze any more money into the bar’s charity bottle, Proprietors Andrew and Trish Strang decided it was time to count the contents.

It took them a long time ... for the result was a huge cheque for £750 heading the way of the Girvan Lifeboat.

On Monday, a delighted lifeboat Coxswain, Robert McMaster was on hand to receive the cheque and pay tribute to the generosity of the Roxy’s customers.

He said “It’s a tremendous contribution to the local RNLI and all the money they have contributed will go towards the local boat’s operation.

“We are all really grateful for this most generous donation and I can assure everyone who contributed over the past four months or so, when the bottle has been situated on the bar counter, that the money will be put to good use by the local crew.”
