GIRVAN Community Garden could soon boast another visual attraction thanks to patrons of a town hotel bar.

Garden volunteers were last week presented with a cheque for £200 from generous drinkers at The Royal Hotel on Montgomerie Street, Girvan.

Customers of The Royal Hotel donated prizes to a Christmas raffle, the proceeds of which were used to wish some of the older regulars a Merry Christmas with a bottle of their favourite tipple.

But every year a local charity is selected for the remainder of the cash; and this year loyal Royal man Jim McClymont clinched it for Girvan Community Garden.

Garden Guardian Jim said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive this donation.

“We hope to put the money towards a piece of sculpture in the garden that visitors can see and enjoy.”

The whole Community Garden team would like to thank The Royal Hotel and their customers for their generous gift.
