A Royal Navy helicopter with a very special passenger paid some short visits to South Ayrshire primary schools on Wednesday December 11 and Thursday December 12.
On Wednesday, the Mark 5 Sea King dropped in at Minishant Primary at 10.30am, Annbank Primary at 11am and Dundonald Primary at 11.30am.
And the next day (Thursday), the helicopter called at Heathfield Primary at 11am, Glenburn Primary at 11.30am and Dalmilling Primary at 1.15pm.
The visits are part of HMS Gannet’s educational community engagement programme and the crew members are thoroughly looking forward to meeting the children and telling them a little more about the helicopter and the Royal Navy.
But, while they are on the ground, they do also had a special extra festive mission from the busiest man in the world – to collect letters from the youngsters to forward on to Santa in Lapland.
They take this job very seriously and will ensure that all this important correspondence makes its way to the elves’ sorting office for Father Christmas’ attention before the big day.
