Sharing your life skills can inspire our young people

The ‘Life’s a Journey’ Team at Girvan Youth Trust (GYT) offer support to individual young people who want to develop or learn new ‘essential life skills’ which will enable them to be more independent and to recognise their true potential.

GYT are looking to create a bank of local volunteer mentors who will work with young people on a one to one basis to develop life skills such as cooking, handling money, car maintenance or anything else important to the young person at the time.

GYT aim to pair young people and mentors who share similar interests. There will be a process of recruitment and training provided for each mentor to ensure that the experience will be beneficial to both. GYT are looking for mentors who can spare a couple of hours a week and who have a genuine passion and commitment to ensure that our local young people are given as many opportunities as possible.
