IT MAY not have been as spectacular as the Olympics, but the villagers in Barr turned out in force to watch a great fireworks display and bonfire at the weekend.
The event, staged by the Barr Community Association, attracted a big crowd of all ages who watched the ceremonial Guy Fawkes bonfire go up in smoke and then were treated to an impressive display of pyrotechnics which lasted nearly a quarter of an hour.
Before the big event, the competition for the best guy was won by the local primary school from a large number of entries.
Community Association chairman, Dave Trotter said: “We haven’t had a bonfire and fireworks night in the village for few years and we thought it would be something which would attract young and old alike.
“We are delighted that so many villagers and their families turned out for the spectacular show.”
