Sudden death of Barr man “not suspicious” say Police

Police have confirmed that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of a man in his home near Barr.

The body of 75 year-old John McCloy, brother of the former Rangers goalkeeper, Peter, was discovered by a neighbour on Friday at his isolated cottage, ‘Corfin’, in the hills about two miles above the village.

Mr McCloy, who lived alone, was formerly a successful greyhound breeder and trainer. A keen follower of horse racing, he had travelled with a group from Barr to watch the recent Scottish Grand National the weekend before his death.
