CHURCH-GOERS enjoyed a rare bit of sunshine for the annual open air service at Girvan Harbour on Sunday.
Dr James Anderson of Girvan’s North Parish Church welcomed the congregation before introducing the Salvation Army band from Ayr.
The service included readings and prayers by various Carrick community members, as well as a few short items of ‘good news’. Dr Anderson also contributed a well-received address.
Nicola Lawrence, secretary of organising body South Carrick Churches Together, said: “The band led an inspriring collection of hymns that brought back happy memories for many. It was a very enjoyable occasion.”
Reverend Ian McLachlan of Girvan’s South Parish Church, who attneded the service as a congregation member, described it as “a very successful and joyous occasion” and thanked everyone involved.
