Theatre fantasy for Maybole pupils

STAR-STRUCK pupils from Maybole’s St Cuthbert’s Primary School stepped into the world of fantasy and make believe recently on a theatre visit fit for a king.

The children were able to dress up in some dazzling costumes from the wardrobes of the King’s Theatre and Theatre Royal in Glasgow through the “Stories on Stage” schools presentation, which illustrates how popular children’s stories can transfer from page to stage.

The pupils were taken on a
virtual walk through the historical theatres by group adviser for Ayrshire Helena Burgoyne, who promotes productions at the King’s and Theatre Royal and arranges backstage tours and discounted tickets for groups of 10 or more.

The children got a glimpse of what goes on backstage and learned how stories are brought to life through costumes, scenery, props, lighting, actors, mime, dance, puppets, special effects, technical wizardry and even magic. Oh yes they did!
