Thought for the Week- Complaining is never enough to change the world

Do you like complaining? And if so what do you like complaining about? Do you complain about your life; the world as it is at the moment; or about the trivial things that annoy you? And what do you hope to achieve by complaining?

Most people complain about something because they are not happy with the way things are at the moment. They often express their dissatisfaction to a family member or friend who is prepared to listen to them. And by unburdening themselves in this way, they often feel better for it and are grateful for having someone prepared to listen to them. But for some other people they want to see changes made to their own lives or to the world as a whole.

One of the great gifts that God has given us is that of imagination, which means that we can all imagine lots of possible futures. The sad thing is that we know that the world at present with its hatred; wars; violence; intolerance and desperately poor people; is not the way that God created it to be. And that the cause of this is mainly down to the selfishness and greed of some human beings who are often only concerned about themselves and their small group.

However if people genuinely want the world to become what God created it to be, then human beings need to listen to his Word. Complaining about things is never enough, if you are not prepared to put in the hard work necessary to make the world a better place for everyone to live in.

And all religions have, as one of their aims, the desire for their followers to do what they can to work towards creating a peaceful world where everyone can realise their true potential.
