One of South Ayrshire’s best courses is experiencing a boom this summer.
Open Championship host course Turnberry has seen an increase in golfers during the holiday season.
The course which has hosted the battle for the Claret Jug on four occasions most recently in 2009 as well as numerous Senior Open championships has been helped by the good seasonal weather plus two weeks of world-class golf tournaments being played in Scotland.
Whilst there are no official numbers as of yet, the marketing team at the resort say they are now enjoying peak levels of interest in people playing and staying at Turnberry with golf enthusiasts coming from across the world to the Ayrshire coast.
Stephen Walker, Director of Sales and Marketing for Turnberry Resort, commented;
“A combination of the global coverage from The Scottish Open and The Open at Muirfield last week, alongside our best summer weather since 2006, means interest in playing the championship courses at Turnberry is at its peak currently
“For global explorers, many visiting Scotland for The Open , the Ailsa course is a must play venue. Locally, the Kintyre is proving ever more popular with a new range packages available for summer 2013.”
