Vandalism and break-ins over weekend in Girvan

FIREWORKS weekend in Girvan was not such a highlight for businesses as police were called to vandalisms and break-ins.

Overnight on November 1-2 two commercial premises on Girvan’s Dalrymple Street were targeted, one being left with a smashed window and another with damaged shutters.

Another commercial premises in Girvan’s town centre also had a wheelchair stolen during the morning on November 3. A police dog squad attended the scene in an attempt to apprehend an individual, but was unsuccessful. Police enquiries into all of these incidents are ongoing.

A report has also been submitted after a bin was reported on fire in the Linden Avenue area of Girvan on November 3. Police enquiries are ongoing to determine whether this was willful.

A BICYCLE was stolen from a rural Ballantrae property overnight on November 5-6.

PC Craig O’Neill of Girvan Police Office advised bike-owners to make sure their property is secure, outbuildings locked up, and any additional lighting or camera equipment reinstalled after a serious of bike thefts around the same period last year.

SMASHING a car window landed an 18-year-old male in court this week.

Girvan police officers arrested the man on November 1 after he reportedly vandalised a vehicle in Dailly on October 31, and he was detained to appear at Ayr Sheriff Court.
