Excitement buzzed as those short-listed for the Imprint Writing Awards gathered at the Dick Institute, Kilmarnock. This annual competition is only open to writers resident in Ayrshire.
Ayr Writers’ Club members Pat Young and Ann Burnett were first and second in the short story with Scattered Coals and The Darkness Before Dawn respectively, while Dorothy Gallagher took first prize in the poetry with Nearly.
Rhona Anderson from Girvan and President of the AWC said: “These are fantastic results and proves the club cultivates talent in all writing styles.”

The Ayr Writers’ Club meets each Wednesday at 7.15pm to 9.30pm at the Carlton Hotel, Prestwick. Visitors will receive a warm welcome or for those unable to attend, an e-membership option is available.
