SLOWSTARTING Girvan were punished in two five-minute spells by their hosts on Saturday.
After falling two goals behind after only six minutes, the Seasiders did well to haul themselves level before the break, but they then fell a further two goals behind within five minutes of the restart.
Kevin Biggart returned following suspension an
d slotted alongside Danny Cunningham in the heart of the Girvan defence and it was his tackle on former Hearts forward Jose Quitongo outside the area which lead to the opening goal.
Chic Connolly stepped from 25 yards and floated his effort over the wall toward goal. Girvan keeper Alan Smith looked as though he had it covered, but somehow managed to palm the ball into his own net.
It was a poor piece of goalkeeping which gifted the Glens the lead, and got Girvan off to the worst possible start after only three minutes.
And just two minutes later, the home side doubled their advantage when Jordan Mullen finished from close range after Girvan failed to clear a corner.
It marked an awful start for Brian McLuckie's side, but after that they began to play and get forward.
Despite the wind and cluttered midfield, Girvan were having some success down the right hand side through David McVittie in particular.
At times he was left in acres of space, and it eventually cost the Glens after he got his side back in it midway through the first half when a corner from the left hand side found the back of the net with a little help from the wind.
And shortly before half time, after some fine individual skill, McVittie rocketed Girvan level with a fine strike.
He picked up the ball on the right hand touchline and cut inside, skipping past two players before firing an unstoppable high rising effort into the top left hand corner.
It was no more than Girvan deserved after battling their way back into the match and it looked like they would go on and win the match.
However, half time came too early for McLuckie's men. Another 10 minutes or so would have seen them probably take the lead, as they were taking advantage of playing with the wind behind their back.
However, immediately after the restart they were behind again, when Joe Savage headed home the rebound from Connolly's drive which smacked the face of the bar.
And Savage was again involved when he was brought down by Biggart inside the area just two minutes later and Connolly sent Smith the wrong way to restore his side's two-goal lead.
Connolly completed the scoring, notching up his hat-trick as well, 12 minutes before full time from the penalty spot after Smith brought down Savage.
The final score certainly flattered Derek Ferguson's side as there was never three goals of a difference between the sides.
Girvan are on the road again this weekend when they travel to Glasgow to face newly promoted Ashfield.
