STEVIE O'Donnell scored the winner to send Girvan through in the Ayrshire Weekly Press Cup, while Maybole crashed at home and now look set to drop back into the Ayrshire League
Defeat at home to fellow basement side Whitletts leaves them Maybole but relegated from the First Division.
Mathmatically they still are safe, but it would take a monumental miracle for them to survive, as they trail the sides above them on points and played more games.
And in the cup action on Wednesday night, Girvan booked themselves a tie at Whitletts on Monday night with victory over Lugar Boswell Thistle.
O'Donnell's effort was enough for a depleted Girvan side who were without a number of players through work commitments, suspensions and injuries.
