A royal performance from Girvan youths

Girvan Under 15s travelled up to Kilmarnock on Sunday to take on Bellfield Royals in the Supplementary Cup quarter finals.

With Kilmarnock escaping the snow it was still a bitterly cold day but the playing surface was good.

In the opening stages this week Girvan again started slowly and struggled to get a grip of the midfield with Bellfield breaking through in numbers and it took some desperate defending to deny Bellfield from taking the lead.

Girvan managed to take the lead Brandon Rice keeping his scoring streak going poking the ball home after a goalmouth scramble.

Bellfield equalised soon after lobbing Sloan in goal from 20 yards.

Dorans put Girvan in front before half time after some nice play by the Girvan midfield.

With halftime looming Bellfield struck again.

At half time Girvan made changes bringing on Gracie, Kelly and Tisor and this had an immediate impact with Gracie restoring Girvan lead.

Rice then got his second of the game with another well worked goal.

Kelly then on one of his rampaging runs played a neat one two with Tisor and rifled home.

Kelly again got his second of the game with another well worked goal set up this time by the industrial Allison at the heart of Girvans midfield.

Bellfield started a comeback and pulled a goal back this time the ball bouncing over Sloan in goal.

And with 10 minutes remaining Girvans normal rock solid defence made an error which allowed a Bellfield striker to nip in for the goal and leave the rest of the game a nervy end for Girvan, but the boys held out to leave the game Bellfield Royals 4 Girvan Youth 6.

Man of the match with another solid commanding performance at the back was Jack Smith.

Next week Girvan Youth are away to Falkirk to take part in the Falkirk cup we wish them all the best.
