Also on Sunday, two club members – Jo Clarke and John Paul Baxter – competed in the Lakeland Monster Miles cyclocross sportive in the Lake District.

The Cycling Weekly magazine supported event was organised by Gavin MacDonald, formally of Ayr Roads CC.

The weather was the first two hours of the 90 mile course was pleasant; however the elements then closed in meaning that the 600 riders taking part got a bit damp!

With over 9000ft of climbing and off road terrain to contend with, Jo and JP thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
