Have your say

The 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games is nearly upon us, and South Ayrshire is playing host to one of the events participating countries.

The Ghanaian Cycling team have based themselves in and around Ayr on the lead up to the event, with five riders participating in the Road Race, the individual Time Trial, and indoors on the track at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in the East end of the city. Ayr Roads CC / Harry Fairbairn BMW / Sprockets.com have warmly welcomed the visitors from West Africa and along with South Ayrshire Council are helping the riders with their build up to the Commonwealth events during July and August.

On Saturday a steady tempo ride through the stunning scenery of the Galloway hills was the order of the day, with the route taking in many of the famous climbs between Straiton, Barr and Girvan, whilst on Sunday some fast paced race training was organized between Crosshill, Kirkmichael and Straiton with everyone enjoying a challenging session. Next weeks itinerary will involve some bigger mileages in and around South Ayrshire, and also a visit to the Island of Arran over the weekend.
