Carrick Angling Club tried something new this year for its work party day out.

The club went to Broomhill Fishery near Drongan for a coarse fishing match.

This was the first time many of the members had been coarse fishing so it was a steep learning curve.

Fishery owners Tommy and Derek helped guide learners through the stages of coarse fishing, and despite the difficult angling conditions nearly everyone caught fish.

After the competition the owners of the fishery put on a barbecue for the Carrick men and club secretary Gordon Todd thanked Tommy and Derek for their help and hospitality. They also announced that their security company D&T Security would sponsor an annual competition at the venue.
