Club riders excel with top ten finishes

AYR Roads Cycling Club/Harry Fairbairn BMW fielded a number of riders in the Loudon Road Club weekend of racing and continued their great start to the season with two top-ten finishes.

Saturday saw Neil Campbell tackle the tough 12.5-mile Drumclog Hilly Time Trial in windy conditions, finishing a fine ninth in a time of 34 mins 9 seconds, while Paul McGhee and Robert Kelly made their first appearance of the season finishing 37.55 and 38.02 respectively.

In the second Loudon Road Club event of the weekend, the club fielded three riders in the Drumclog APR, a 36-mile Australian Pursuit race taking in three laps of the Drumclog, Dungavel, Strathaven circuit.

Veteran rider Alex McAllister continued his great start to the season, sprinting to a superb fifth, while Robert Kelly put in a good performance to finish 13th and Keith Hood finishing in the main bunch.
