First jumps action of season

Ayr Racecourse Stages it’s first jumps meeting of the 2013-2014 season on Saturday with the John Smith’s Raceday due under starter’s orders at 12.55 pm.

The seven race card features two £12,000 chases – the John Smith’s Novices Limited Handicap Chase at 2.35 pm over three miles one furlong and the John Smith’s No Nonsense Handicap Chase over two miles at 3.45 pm.

There are big entries from the leading Scottish stables with Lucinda Russell, Jim Goldie, Nick Alexander and Alistair Whillans all likely to have several runners.

It is the track’s final meeting of 2013 with New Year’s Raceday on January 2 the next fixture after Saturday’s action.

Gates open at 11.00 am and the opening race is the John Smith’s Maiden Hurdle with the finale the Odds & Evens Bookmakers Catrine ‘Newcomers’ Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race at 4.15 pm.
